Think again, if you think the fall colors are all gone from New England…

My website numbers (passing 100, the wrong way) 🙂 would indicate that you are all moving on to thinking about the next holiday’s to come, (Black Friday and Cyber Monday come to mind) Oh! … and Thanksgiving…

But as I can see outside my window, my colors are moving from reds to yellows and my oaks have all turned various shades of red and yellowish browns and on this very blue sky day, and that doesn’t look too bad.

Afternoon fall color

I’m hearing from Susan Cole Kelly and others on the New England Photography Guild Facebook page that the colors in Boston are all turning wonderful shades so maybe a walk in the park down there my give you a taste of fall color in the big city before it all turns to white and brown slush.. (yuck!)

What I’m seeing as of today here in Salem and Swampscott is pretty nice by my standards and as you look through this article, I think you’ll agree that there is still fall foliage to be seen along the North shore of Massachusetts.

My goal as the fall foliage fades

I plan to continue to show pictures of our fading fall and I hope you will stop in from time to time and look over my travels in New England both here and on my other blog Scenic New England Travel where I try to get out and photograph something interesting. with a short how to if I can remember how!  🙂

If you bookmark the webcam page you can watch the seasons unfold (I closed that page until I fix it) through New England and together we can watch the winter arrive and hopefully fade into spring… Think of it this way… in only 32 more days the days will start their upward battle to the days getting longer…! If that isn’t optimistic, I don’t know what is!

I’d also love to see what you shot this fall and if you want to upload what you shot and share it with me you can go to my New England fall foliage FaceBook page and show me what you found.. Heck I would even be interested in seeing what you found in 2010.. (just tell us what year you shot it in).

I hope we’ll pass in and out of each other’s lives over the next few months and I look forward to next summer turning to fall and making plans and guesses with you on what next fall will look like.

Is New England’s fall foliage at an end? — 1 Comment

  1. Hello. I found your site by accident. Your pictures reminded me of the fall foliage around Boston area, especially Newton. I have been living in Japan, but I stayed in Boston from September 2009 to August 2010 as a visitor. I used to drive along Commonwealth avenue during my visit. The scene of fall foliage around Newton was very impressive for me. I have not seen such vivid colored foliage.

It is said that Japanese fall foliage is also so beautiful, but different. It is more like mosaic arts. I would like to visit New England and to see it again. Now, in the west of Tokyo which is the suburb, foliage is coloring. Soon this area will be covered with red and yellow. I am looking forward to it.

Thank you for your great pictures.
