New England Fall Foliage » Foliage Articles » Best times for New England fall foliage

I hear this question once or twice as autumn approaches: “When are the best times for New England fall foliage & leaf peeping?”. 🙂

My Job is to chase the fall foliage through New England so hopefully you won’t have to.

And based on years of doing just that, I have a pretty good idea of when and where it will be showing up. (unless Mother Nature plays hide and seek on me with the fall colors)

I created the map below to give you an idea of a few of my trip dates (hover the map icon with your mouse for the date) and if you click on it, it will open up and you can see a shot from that day in that location. (once open if you click the image it will take you to my Art gallery)

The early trips in Sept are the green markers and the red markers are October trips and the blue icons are November. I will try to put a few more up so bookmark this page/article for more 2012 locations.

Feel free to visit me on my blogs and see what life in New England is like.

I started with Yankee Magazine as their first blogger on everything fall foliage. Now I blog on my own blog on my favorite subject, telling leaf peepers where the fall foliage is showing up in New England and helping them (to some extent) plan their fall foliage vacations.

Best times for New England fall foliage — 4 Comments

  1. I always say that peak color can be found somewhere the first week of October. Before I lived in New England, I vacationed out here for about 10 years straight. Always on my Brothers birthday which is October 4th. Never let down on that date. As said, you either find higher elevation or go north if it is not peak yet. Or lower elevations and south when past peak. Your blogs helped me many years in my travels to New England. 🙂 Great resource for those out of the area. I know I always appreciated it. 🙂

  2. Fall foliage map is great Jeff. Thanks for sharing. And…always enjoy your photos.
