This is the Jeff Foliage August comment winner!

This month there were 21 comments (actually more but I only count one per-person). The contest winner for August is…

Ready for it? Their name is….
Opps.. I’m sorry, but first a word from our sponsor! After the commercial break We’ll find out who the winner is!  🙂

The first one is a new scent “Crisp morning mist” and the 2nd one is one of my personal favorites, “Autumn Leaves” Which scent is your favorite in the fall..

The summer weather is heading into the tail end of August  with some 90s still present so no cool down in sight as of the first few days of September… We’ll see what happens over the next week or so.

In July I reported that the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) made it’s presence known in Gilmanton NH. Well I talks to a forestry official and he said as of now it appears to be contained. Remember if you are coming to New England to camp.. Leave the firewood at home! There are fines and stern looks if you bring your firewood with you… (public service announcement)

Autumn Advice Foliage Forum

Maybe you’d like to talk about scenic routes or favorite places to have dinner when on the road or a good train ride through the fall colors (or what ever else you can think of). Well I got another domain and created a forum there. It’s called Autumn Advice Forum, what is a forum?

Forums were the predecessor to social media. Along with bulletin boards, these were the way people connected and they are still popular today… Why visit a forum when you have Facebook??

Try searching for a particular conversation or image on Facebook or in your own timeline and that is but one reason. (I can name some more.)

I’d like to share this Cool November morning image of a Foggy path on Salem Common with you. Maybe you’ll come to New England for a visit. It can be purchased on Fine Art America here.

  1. Hi Jeff,

I am planning a trip to Vermont through Route 100 from Wilmington, VT to Stowe, VT from September 26, 2015 to September 28, 2015. Yankee Foliage forecast tells me at that time Vermont will be on peak. However in some blogs I see that it’s first week of October. Could you please help me with your experience whether September last weekend is good to plan above routes or not.

    Many Thanks !

    Veeresh

    • Yankee’s map is a guideline nothing more. The 26-28 will be good north of Stowe but not in Stowe or south of there. Especially in Wilmington which will be 10-15 Oct. It starts up north and then flows south (depending on the weather. I’m thinking it will be a slow development this year but a very bright one… (fingers crossed)

  2. Jeff, I will be in New England 11/5 thru 11/10. Any chance of colors at that time? Going to Burlington VT, Portsmouth NH, then York Beach, ME on to Montreal.

    Thanks,

    Paula

    • York beach yes but there aren’t too many trees at the beach, inland from there you should see some. the rest are the wrong directions and if you do see color it will be late trees. But Burlington being on the lake will be your best bet. Maybe a trip on Route two over the islands on the lake. Montreal… sorry, they had the fall colors in Sept and Nov is a tad late… But the old town of Montreal is assume fall colors or not… 🙂

  3. Hi Jeff! Do you have more fall pictures of Salem? I was looking to purchase one or 2 and I just wanted to see if you had any more!!! Thank you !!

I'd love to hear what you think!
