The warm September which delayed the fall colors means that we are now finding beautiful fall colors throughout the southern tier of New England. That is the good News…
I have a report from Jonathan Steele, a New England photography Guild photographer in Connecticut: “The weather for the weekend is looking to be good but unfortunately between now and then we have some heavy rain and windy days coming. The forecast has heavy rain (1-3 inches) tomorrow, ending Thursday morning. Winds are forecast to gust up to 30 mph. I anticipate a lot of late fall colors loss over the next few days. most of what I see here in the Connecticut River valley, is peak to past peak with sporadic locations having great color. One spot that appears good now, is the Case Mountain area of Manchester.(click to open map) The waterfalls have good color now but low water flow, the lower pond and upper pond both have good color.”
As you read this a cold front is winding its way towards New England that may be the bell tolling for our late fall colors. We’ll have to wait out the storm on Wednesday through Thursday and then see what the reports say.
So if you are wondering where to go over the Halloween weekend, then check out…

I started with Yankee Magazine as their first blogger on everything fall foliage. Now I blog on my own blog on my favorite subject, telling leaf peepers where the fall foliage is showing up in New England and helping them (to some extent) plan their fall foliage vacations.
