Walden Fall Foliage Festival
Monday 29, September 2014
Just so you know you can make plans for spending time in the NEK (North East Kingdom) because The Walden festival marks the beginning of the North East Kingdom fall foliage festival which runs for five event filled days. (Click the link to get info on the rest of the week)
The location of the Walden fall foliage festival is an easy one to get to. From the south take Route 91 up to St Johnsbury (after it passes Route 93) Then take Route 28 to Danville. I would then take Walden hill road but use your Vermont Gazetteer or other map book to get you there.
I think I’ve been to Walden Vt or at least through it over the past few years. How do I know this? One of the old one room school houses looks familiar to me, 🙂 Follow this link to the Walden fall foliage festival blog page.
The day in Walden begins with registration at 9 am, at the Walden Methodist Church, with coffee and cider donuts. Exhibits at the church feature sights and sounds of country life, the friendly small town atmosphere, and displays of traditional activities and crafts, and interactions with a myriad of farm animals, large and small. The folks of Walden will share country music and small home businesses nestled in the wooded hills.
A sumptuous barbecue beef supper with locally grown mashed potatoes and veggies, and home-baked pies with delicious Kingdom Creamery ice cream (learn more about Kingdom Creamery at http://kingdomcreameryofvermont.com/ and at http://www.uvm.edu/extension/atfence/?m=201310) will be served at the church starting at 5:30 pm for $12.
