A cardinal visits with friends

Armchair bird watching for cardinals

This is one of my days off from work so I’m able to watch out my window and catch a few shots of the visiting birds. What always catches my attention is of course, the bright red of the cardinal.

But on this morning a bright yellow American goldfinch also visits and takes turns seeing what I’ve put out.

Should the bright yellow male goldfinch open the seed here or away in his nest.

Tufted titmouse

Lastly the tufted titmouse grabs a seed to break open on a nearby branch as the cardinal (seen in the background) helps himself to another bite of breakfast.

I'm Jeff Folger, but people know me as Jeff Foliage. Most people know me for my blog about fall foliage: Jeff Foliage.com. I got started with blogging about the fall season when I started with Yankee Magazine, a regional magazine, as their first blogger on everything fall foliage. Now I write for my own blog on my favorite subject, informing leaf peepers where the fall foliage is showing up in New England. I live in Salem, Massachusetts, and work full time, but in my spare time, I write my blog, studying weather and trends in patterns for my predictions. It was an honor to be featured on television with CBS Sunday Morning in 2018, and also on the AutumnWatch New England show which was a PBS/BBC production. I have been interviewed by The Weather Channel, and also radio stations, WGBH Boston (PBS), 980 WCAP talk radio, among others, as well as newspapers from around the world who, for a few short weeks, want to know all about New England Fall Foliage. Although I enjoyed being honored in this way, the thing that keeps me going, and makes me happy the most, is bringing the beauty of New England to people around the world. I do my best to help with ideas for planning their fall foliage vacations, and there is nothing that pleases me more than to hear them say they had a wonderful time.
